The International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS) is a global non-profit organization, founded in 1957 by Theodore von Kármán. It promotes the exchange of information on aeronautical research and technology, connecting professional societies from around 30 countries. ICAS organizes a biennial Congress that highlights new developments in aeronautical science, both in military and civilian aviation. Papers presented at the Congress are published electronically, and the ICAS archive, containing over 5,000 documents, is freely available to the global aeronautics community. At the 34th Congress of the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS), held in Florence, Italy, our team had the privilege of being part of this prestigious event. We engaged with aeronautics professionals, researchers, and enthusiasts from around the world, sharing knowledge and discussing the latest innovations in the field. Our team delivered an insightful presentation titled “A proposal towards a step change from eco-driven to sustainability-driven design of aircraft components” on September 11th, as part of the session on sustainable aircraft design. The event provided a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and explore new collaborations in the pursuit of advancing aeronautical science and sustainability.
