From 29–31 August 2025, the European Rover Challenge (ERC) took place at the University of Krakow, Poland, one of Europe’s largest and most prestigious space robotics competitions. The ERC brings together university teams from around the world to design, build, and operate advanced Mars rover prototypes, tackling a series of real-world missions that test engineering innovation, scientific analysis, and teamwork.
This year, Beyond Robotics proudly represented Greece among 102 international teams with the development of Talos 2.1 rover, achieving remarkable results:
🏆 13th place worldwide among 102 teams
🎤 1st place in the Presentation Task, where the team’s story and design vision impressed the judges
🛰️ 4th place in the Drone Task, just one year after the subsystem was created
🔬 Excellent performance in the Exploration & Astrobiology Tasks

At the University of Patras and within the Intelligent Design & Sustainable Engineering Group (IDEAS), we were truly honored to sponsor and support this endeavor by providing supervision, laboratory access, and peripheral equipment essential for the development of the rover and its subsystems.
We are immensely proud of all the students and young researchers who devoted countless hours to this project. Their passion, teamwork, and technical skill continue to bring the spirit of space exploration closer to Greece.
As we look ahead to the European Rover Challenge 2026, our goal is clear: to build upon this year’s experience, refine our designs, and return even stronger. The journey continues! 🚀
