We are excited to share that the IDEAS Research Group from the University of Patras participated in the AERODAYS 2025, held from May 7 to 9, 2025 in Warsaw, Poland.
The AERODAYS is the flagship event for aviation and aeronautics research in Europe, bringing together researchers, industry leaders, policy makers, and innovators from across the globe to discuss the future of sustainable aviation, new technologies, and collaborative research opportunities. This year’s edition was characterized by fruitful discussions, cutting-edge presentations, and a strong focus on shaping a climate-neutral and competitive European aviation sector. More information about AERODAYS 2025, including the full programme and list of participants, can be found here.
Throughout the event, the IDEAS Group actively engaged in numerous discussions and sessions, exchanging ideas with experts from both academia and industry. Particularly, our team’s contribution to the session on “Circularity in Aviation” stood out, highlighting critical aspects of integrating circular economy principles into the aviation sector.
During the “Circularity in Aviation” discussion, Angelos Filippatos presented on behalf of EASN/University of Patras, joining a distinguished panel composed of Ligeia Paletti (DLR/EREA), Ayce Celikel (env-isa/ECATS), and Agnieszka Bareja (LOT Polish Airlines), under the chairmanship of Maria Wolff (Esploro).
The session emphasized the urgent need for a shift towards resource efficiency, design for circularity, and sustainability-driven innovation in aviation — topics that are closely aligned with the ongoing research activities of the IDEAS Group.
Participating in AERODAYS 2025 has been an inspiring and enriching experience for our team, offering new insights and strengthening our international collaborations.
We are already looking forward with great anticipation to the next AERODAYS in 2026, continuing our contribution towards a sustainable and innovative future in aviation.
